Who...

There is a small but effective structure to our organization that allows us to effectively accomplish our goal of forming strong relationships with each other, the community we serve and with Jesus. Not only do these relationships grow and thrive during Camp, they become a lasting part of each participant.

Above...God supplies the campers with a calm and beautiful sunset over Fish Hook Lake at our base camp at Northern Pines.

How is Camp Structured
We have a simple organization chart made up of Camp directors who plan, coordinate the major activities of Camp each year. Many of them are also active in the daily activities of Camp as well. The basic structure is as follows:
Direction - Pastor Dave is the overall director of STORM Camp. In consultation with; the many Major Group Leaders, the Band, the Holy Spirit, he determines the theme & activities of the week. The STORM Camp Team then works closely together to plan a creative ways to have an powerful impact on all campers and the community
Major Group Leaders - Each Major Group Leader is assigned to oversee small youth groups which we call TIM groups. That stands for Teams In Mission. The Major Group Leaders see that the TIM groups are on task, help in any way they can, deliver needed/missed tools, they visit the various project sites during the day. They meet each morning with their assigned T.I.M. groups, discus the past day, lead devotions and get things coordinated for that day. At night, the major group leaders all meet together and discuss how the day went and to prepare for the upcoming day's events. They also build relationships with the people they and their teams serve, they look for more jobs during the week and act as Ambassadors to the community. This is a very visible and hard working group and the "glue" that keeps things together during the week.
TIM Groups - This is the core group that carries out our mission of SJXSO for the community. They are groups of 5 youth and an adult driver who work together on specific projects throughout the week. The group chooses a team "nick name" for itself, work hard, share lunch devotions with those they serve and grow in relationship with each other and those they serve during the week. TIM Groups are made up of youth from different congregations and of different age groups which encourages meeting and working with others.
Prayer Team - The unsung heroes of STORM Camp are the dozens of people in Menahga/Sebeka/Hubbard area that pray for individual campers for three months prior to camp. This team, organized by one of the STORM Camp originals, Ardyth Corbin, prays for safety, encouragement and God to work in a great way in each campers’ life. We are grateful for the hours of prayer that goes in to a successful STORM Camp.
The TOOL Guys - Led by Chuck Garr, member of the Hubbard UMC, the tool guys make sure that every TIM group has the tools they need to accomplish the job at hand. Chuck leads a dedicated group of retired guys (and the occasional gal), keeping the tool shed in top shape, and campers happy. Campers try to keep Chuck and the guys happy by bringing DQ treats, flowers, cards and other tokens of appreciation!
Our Band - The last few years, the STORM Camp Band has been led by Paul Baudhuin, youth pastor of St. Croix Valley UMC. We have a good mix of veteran campers, campers, leaders and other musicians that provide high energy, rocking Christian music for us. Worship is a key component to our camp experience and the Band always come through to lead us closer to God and enable us to worship as a camp community.

A Typical Day At Camp...

The STORM Camp model is designed to SJXSO. You have the chance to meet new people, form life long friendships, offer assistance to serve others in need and to enhance your spiritual relationships. Below is a typical day at Camp.

Rise and Shine 7:00am
Campers awake sometimes willingly and prepare for breakfast
Morning Breakfast 7:30am
Each morning gather for a mandatory breakfast to give us the energy to carryout the days tasks.
Morning Major Group Time 8:15am
The TIM groups meet with their major group leaders and have a devotional time, time for testimony and discussion of the days service assignments. We gather up the tools needed and head into the community to various service projects.
Service Projects 9:00am - 4:00pm
The various groups arrive at their respective service/project site and commence to complete the selected project. Projects are in many forms like; minor construction, landscaping, yard/building clean up, painting, gardening, etc.
Lunch Devotions Mid Day
We break for lunch at the project site and have a time of devotions with each other and with the person(s) we serve.
Late Afternoon Late Day
We clean up the site if done or store/prepare items if we are to return the next day to complete our tasks. After that we are transported back to Camp for free time to clean up and meet with other campers.
Dinner 6:00pm
We meet again at the dining hall and share a hearty meal together.
Chapel 7:30pm
Along with the work/service projects we do, our worship time is a major highlight of the STORM Camp experience. We gather together in our TIM groups at the Chapel that is situated of the shore of Fish Hook Lake and we have a great time of testimony, singing, music and a moving message shared by Pastor Dave.
Free Time 9:00pm - 10:30pm
After Chapel everyone is free to gather with friends and "chill" until it is LIGHTS OUT and we do it all over again the next day!
Lights Out 11:00pm
All campers are in their sleeping quarters to rest up for another day of SJXSO. Sleep well...
